The judge sent a notice to the railway, Chief Justice Chandrachud himself came forward and reminded them of the laws.

After reading the letter of the Chief Justice, you would say, "I wish the same approach prevailed in politics as well."

Chief Justice Devai Chandrachud of the Supreme Court has written a letter to the Chief Justices of 25 High Courts. He has stated that the judges do not require elaborate protocol facilities and there is no need for such privileges that set them apart from society. This letter comes after Justice Gautam Chaudhary of Allahabad High Court sought clarification from the railway authorities. Chief Justice Chandrachud has also expressed his objection to the notice sent by Gautam Chaudhary.

Actually, on 19th July, Justice Gautam Chaudhary of Allahabad High Court had sought clarification from the railway regarding the inconveniences faced during rail travel. He had issued an informal notice without waiting for any petition, addressing the inconveniences he experienced personally during the journey.

According to the information, Justice Gautam Chaudhary was traveling from New Delhi to Prayagraj. Firstly, his train was delayed by three hours. Then, after waiting for hours, when he finally boarded the train, the inconveniences inside troubled him. He claimed that many facilities that were supposed to be available on the train were missing.

According to the report by Pankaj Srivastava connected to Aaj Tak, the Registrar Protocol of Allahabad High Court, Ashish Kumar Srivastava, wrote a letter to the General Manager of North Central Railway regarding this matter. It was mentioned in the letter that Justice Gautam Chaudhary was traveling with his wife from New Delhi to Prayagraj on Train Number 12802, Purushottam Express, in the AC First Class coach. The letter alleged that the judge was not provided with basic amenities, and clarification has been demanded in this regard.

As per a report by Kanu Sharada associated with India Today, the Chief Justice has expressed objections to the same notice. He believes that it is a misuse of his powers. Devai Chandrachud mentioned in his letter that a High Court officer wrote a letter to the Railway authorities. The Chief Justice has advised the judges to use protocol facilities in a manner that does not cause inconvenience to others or raise questions on the judiciary.

The letter states,

"The scale of protocol facilities given to judges is not appropriate. There is no need for the utilization of such privileges that set them apart from society or showcase their powers. The judicious and conscientious use of judicial authority or privileges is essential. Whether present on the bench or not, this aspect should be taken into consideration."

In this letter, the Chief Justice has also stated that High Court judges cannot demand disciplinary clarification from railway authorities.

It was when the office of Justice Gautam Chaudhary of Allahabad High Court issued a notice to the railway that this matter went viral. Now, Chief Justice himself has expressed objections, being aware of the issue. In this situation, Justice Gautam Chaudhary might have little hope of receiving a response from the railway.
