After receiving information about possessing wealth disproportionate to their known income, the team from the Vigilance Department conducted a raid at the engineer's residence.

The Vigilance Department conducted a raid at the residence of the Executive Engineer of the Bridge Construction Corporation in Bhagalpur district, Bihar. During the raid, they seized 80 lakh rupees in cash from the engineer's home. Not only that, but they also confiscated numerous items, including jewelry worth lakhs and several documents related to land ownership.

According to a report by Aaj Tak, the case is related to the Jokasr Police Station area in Bhagalpur. On July 26, the Vigilance Department's team conducted a raid at the residence of Mr. Shrikant Sharma, an Executive Engineer with the Bridge Construction Corporation, residing in Hanuman Nagar Colony in the region. During the raid, when Shrikant was questioned, he denied revealing any information. Subsequently, he was arrested by the Vigilance Department's team on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known income.

From Shrikant Sharma's home, the team seized 80 lakh rupees in cash, 78 lakh rupees worth of jewelry, 3 kilograms of silver, several land documents, and various ATM cards, including some in his wife's name. Presently, the Vigilance team is investigating Shrikant Sharma's assets, income, and other documents.

DSP Vigilance, Sanjay Jayaswal, provided this information regarding the ongoing case.

"Shrikant Sharma, the Executive Engineer with the Bridge Construction Corporation, came under scrutiny after information surfaced about him possessing wealth disproportionate to his known income. Following this, he was issued a notice regarding the matter. Subsequently, the department conducted a raid at his residence, where they seized cash worth lakhs, jewelry, and various land documents. He has been arrested, and further action is being taken in the case."

According to media reports, Shrikant Sharma has previously served as a Project Engineer and was also part of the construction team for the Bholanath Flyover in Bihar. There are also claims that he couldn't sleep peacefully without bribes. Local residents allege that Shrikant Sharma has amassed several assets with the money obtained through corruption. However, the full disclosure of these allegations is yet to be uncovered during the investigation.
