Shahid kapoor indirectly refuses Subhash Ghai for his new film

Subhash Ghai can't seem to find an appropriate male lead for his next romantic film. The filmmaker has written a brand new young love story and wants to cast one of the younger actors (read not forty plus) for the lead part.

Every year on his wedding anniversary (October 24), Ghai announces films being made under his banner  - Mukta Arts.

This year, too, he had similar plans but although he has nearly two months before the announcement, he is jittery about not having found a male lead for his next directorial venture after Yuvraaj.
The filmmaker has worked with Shahid Kapoor in 36 China Town (2006) and he wanted to feature Kapoor in this one too. An industry source says, "After Kaminey, Shahid's market standing has shot up. His performance as the twin brothers, was riveting. Ghai, who had worked with the actor, thought that he suited the role and decided to approach him."
The source further adds, "Shahid told Ghai that he wanted 15 crores for the film. And only if that was acceptable, would he meet the director for a narration. The actor also told the veteran maker that he would want in writing that his price would be paid and under no circumstances, will be renegotiated."
After this conversation, Ghai is now said to be looking at other options.
Ghai says, "Neither have I approached him for my film nor has he asked for 15 crores. Wait for my next announcement."
