As it is said 'You Get when You Are Destined To', these lines perfectly went to fit on Manoj Kumar Raina- who since the year 2001 had been trying to be a part of KBC, but got to be there in the year 2012 only, and not just be a part of it but also went to become THE FIRST CONTESTANT TO WIN RS 1 CRORE in the Sixth Season of KBC.
An assistant with the Indian Railways, this man is also the first contestant to participate in KBC, and desires to rebuild his house in the valley of Kashmir which was turned to ashes in the 1988 riots. "I am very happy to have won this huge amount but it was never my aim or dream when I participated in KBC,"- He tells with immense joy on his face.
Raina looked confident since the time he sat on the seat, and beat all the other contestants in the Fastest Finger First round in just 5.6 seconds.
"Since the inception of KBC in 2000, I have been trying to come on the show. But it is all in destiny, I happened to come here this season and won Rs one crore. Through all these years, I kept myself updated with everything happening in India and around the world. I truly believe knowledge can help you reach the top," he said. He further exclaimed "I am very big fan of Amitji, when he is happy I am smiling, when he is sad, I cry. He is a legend. My only intention was to meet Amitji and I felt that was possible only through KBC". "When I met him I found him very humble. He is very loving and affectionate. I will never ever forget the moment when I met him, shook hands with him and hugged him after I won," he added.
"My posting is in a small town near Jammu where one has lots of free time in hand. I used my time reading books to prepare for the show. I knew that if I managed to make it to the show, I would have to answer questions only banking on knowledge," he said.
Manoj who is survived by his parents, wife and a 10 year old son, was accompanied by all of them. He further talked regarding the pathetic conditions he faced in his state had: "in 1988, everything began going downhill. Everything was burnt down by militants and nothing was left." "During militancy, my house in Kashmir Valley was destroyed. We were forced to leave the place. Since then I have been living in Jammu. With Rs one crore, I would like to build a house there and also I want to help under-privileged people in the area who are not receiving any help from any one. I would do help in whatever little way I can," he said.
This simple man with utmost simple dreams has not only won KBC, but he indeed have sparked a ray of hope in the heart of each and every Kashmiri man who had been a target of ongoing extremist war in Jammu & Kashmir and is affected with the same.
