Ye meraa chaman hai meraa chaman,
Main apne Chaman kaa bulbul huun
This is my garden, my very own garden
I am a nightingale of my garden
Sarshaar-e-Nigaah-e-Nargis huun,
Paa-bastaa-e-gesuu-sumbul huun
Drunk am I on the look Of the narcissus?
My tresses are embedded with ‘sumbul’ a sweet plant odour
Ye meraa chaman hai meraa chaman,
Main apne chaman ka bulbul huun
This is my garden, my very own garden
I am a nightingale of my garden
Jo taaq-e-haram men roshan hai,
Vo shamaa yahaan bhii jaltii hai
The glowing flame on the arch of the sanctum (Mecca)
The same flame is lit here (in AMU) as well
Iss dasht ke goshe-goshe se,
Ek juu-e-hayaat ubaltii hai
From every corner of the desert and wilderness
A spring of life flows
Ye dasht-e-junuun diivaanon kaa,
Ye bazm-e-vafaa parvaanon kii
This is the crazy wilderness of passion
This is the gathering of passionate butterflies
Ye shahr-e-tarab ruumaanon kaa,
Ye Khuld-e-bariin armaanon kii
The city of music, amusement for romantics/ dreamers
Magnificent heaven of dreams and desires.
Fitrat ne sikhaii hai ham ko,
Uftaad yahaan parvaaz yahaan
Nature has prepared us for ways of fulfilment and suffering here.
Gaaye hain vafaa ke geet yahaan,
Cheda hai junuun kaa saaz yahaan
We have sung the songs of the trust here
We have hit the song of devotion on musical instruments here
Ye meraa chaman hai meraa chaman,
Main apne chaman ka bulbul huun
This is my garden, my very own garden
I am a nightingale of my garden
Iss bazm mein teghen khenchiin hain,
Iss bazm mein saghar tore hain
We have drawn swords here
We have broken goblets here
Iss bazm mein aankh bichaa’ii hai,
Iss bazm mein dil tak jore hain
We have laid our eyes while waiting in this assembly
Even our hearts were united in this assembly here
Har shaam hai shaam-e-Misr yahaan,
Har shab hai shab-e-Shiraz yahaan
Each Evening here is same as the evenings of Egypt
Each Night here is same as the nights of Iran
Hai saare jahaan kaa soz yahaan
Aur saare jahaan kaa saaz yahaan
The passion and pain from all over the world exists here
The music from all over the world exists here
Zarraat kaa bosaa lene ko,
Sau baar jhukaa aakaash yahaan
Even the skies have bent more than a hundred times down to kiss the land here
Khud aankh se ham ne dekhii hai,
Baatil kii shikast-e-faash yahaan
We have witnessed with our own eyes
The shameful defeat of evil here
Ye mera chaman hai mera chaman,
Main apne chaman ka bulbul huun
This is my garden, my very own garden
I am a nightingale of my garden
Jo abr yahaan se uththega,
Vo saare jahaan par barsegaa
The clouds that rise above from here will rain all over the world
Har juu-e-ravaan par barsegaa,
Har koh-e-garaan par barsegaa
It will rain over each flowing stream of the world
It will rain over each mountain of the world
Har sard-o-saman par barsegaa,
Har dasht-o-daman par barsegaa
It will rain over open areas and shelters
It will rain over wild and evergreen
Khud apne chaman par barsegaa,
Ghairon ke chaman par barsegaa
It will rain on its own garden
It will rain on the gardens of others
Har shahr-e-tarab par garjegaa,
Har qasr-e-tarab par karkegaa
It will flash on the fortress of joy
It will thunder on the battle of joy
Ye abr hameshaa barsaa hai, ye abr hameshaa barsegaa
This cloud has always rained and it will rain forever
Ye abr hameshaa barsaa hai, ye abr hameshaa barsegaa
This cloud has always rained and it will rain forever
Ye abr hameshaa barsaa hai, ye abr hameshaa barsegaa barsegaa, barsegaa, barsegaa
This cloud has always rained and it will rain forever
