Rohit's fifty has broken Dhoni and Gavaskar's major records!

Rohit has surpassed Dhoni.

Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, is playing the second Test match against West Indies. In this match, Rohit has achieved a remarkable record. After losing the toss against West Indies, Rohit Sharma came out to bat with his partner Yashasvi Jaiswal. As soon as he completed his fifty, he surpassed a significant record of Sunil Gavaskar.

Sure! In this match, Rohit and Jaiswal displayed an extraordinary partnership. Both players carried forward their previous form and formed a century partnership. Prior to this remarkable century partnership, Rohit completed his half-century with a six towards the midwicket. As soon as he accomplished this, Rohit surpassed Sunil Gavaskar in the list of players with the most half-centuries against West Indies.

Let me tell you, this list of half-centuries combines all formats. At the top of this list is former Indian captain Virat Kohli. Virat has scored 34 half-centuries against West Indies. Following him is Rahul Dravid at the second position, with 29 half-centuries against the same team. Sachin Tendulkar's name comes in at the third spot with 28 fifties. Now, Rohit Sharma has climbed to the fourth position with 25 half-centuries, and Sunil Gavaskar holds the fifth position with 24 half-centuries.

The record of Dhoni has been shattered.

Along with this, Rohit Sharma has also surpassed the former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's record. In international cricket, Rohit has now scored more runs than Dhoni. While playing for India, Dhoni scored 17,092 runs in international cricket. In the previous match, Rohit played a century partnership and broke this record.

However, Dhoni has also played some matches under ICC's banner, and he has scored 17,266 runs. Now, with a score of 80 runs, Rohit has broken this record. Rohit's name now stands at 17,281 runs in international cricket.

Current Status of the Match

Let's also mention a little about the match. West Indies captain, Kieron Pollard, won the toss and chose to bowl first. Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal once again took to the crease for Team India. The two players displayed an outstanding partnership, adding 139 runs together. It was during this partnership that Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant 57-run innings, becoming Jason Holder's victim.

After that, Shubman Gill took the field but once again had a disappointing performance. He could only manage to score 10 runs. Ajinkya Rahane contributed eight runs. Following that, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja formed a crucial partnership for India. By the end of the first day's play, both batsmen took the team's total to 288. Virat Kohli scored 87, while Ravindra Jadeja made 36 runs unbeaten.
