Kaminey is at the verge of release and guess what? Controversies have befriended it. Recently, after watching the film, the censor board decided to award an ‘A’ certificate to the film. However, Vishal Bharadwaj did not seem happy with this decision as he was expecting a ‘U/A’ certificate for the movie. He’s now worried that the collections of the film would be hampered due to the ADULT tag to it.

A source said, “The examining committee saw the film on Tuesday afternoon and thought that the film had too much violence. They suggested major cuts. However, Vishal is not keen on brutally chopping the film and neither does he want an A certificate. So, the film was sent to the revising committee where Sharmila Tagore, the Chairperson, watched it with a panel of members in Delhi yesterday afternoon. However, after watching the film, it has been decided that the film will indeed have an A certificate. Vishal’s request for a U/A certificate has fallen on deaf ears. Vishal now has to decide if he wants to go ahead and challenge the censor board’s decision, or be happy with the A certificate.”

Reportedly, the objections happened due to the dark theme of the movie. Yet another source said, “There are some cuts in the film. The abusive language is nothing to be worried about as it is marginal. Even the cuts have been made to be politically correct in certain places. However, the darkness of the film and the inherent violence, even though not on screen, is felt powerfully due to the theme. The film is based on the underworld and the very nature of violence in the film is what the censors objected to.”

There are options available as a solution to this problem for Vishal i.e. seeking legal help for the matter. However, our suggestion to him would be to accept the Censor Board’s decision and let go things smoothly.
