Washington: Wearing high heels early in life can make women wince in pain in later years, says a new research. The study warned that wearing a pair of killer heels could cause arthritis.

    Men, however, do not experience the same foot pain as women because of the type of shoes they wear. “Young women should make careful choices regarding their shoe type to avoid hindfoot pain later in life, or perform stretching exercises to alleviate the effect of high heels on foot pain,” recommended researchers from Boston
University School of Public Health and the Institute for Aging Research at Hebrew SeniorLife.
    Conducted on behalf of the American College of Rheumatology, experts examined the link between joint problems and footwear. Amongst women, scientists could pinpoint a correlation between “poor shoe choices”— such as high heels — and arthritis.
    They found that wearing heels when young makes it more likely to develop the condition in later life. IANS
