Trust director Ashutosh Gowariker to give you complete paisa vasool if you have bought a ticket to watch his film. If not in terms of cinematic experience, the filmmaker makes sure you spend a good three-to-four hours in the air conditioned cinema hall if you intend to watch an Ashutosh Gowariker film.
Like his earlier films, Lagaan and Jodha Akhbar, his latest film to hit the theatres, What’s Your Rashee?, a good 3 hours 30 minutes tale, is another example where the audience find themselves waiting for ‘The End’.
“The length of the film is not pre-decided, my film is as long as the time I need to tell a story, in my style. There are certain nuances to each character, there are 12 different girls and facets in the film that need to be explored,” Ashutosh has maintained before the release of the film.
Defending the use of 13 songs in one film, Ashutosh said, “Normally a song is a 5-7 minutes musical, the 13 songs will not be heavy duty as the songs are half the length of a normal song, so actually they are there for more or less the same time,” Ashutosh was confident of the music element in ‘What’s Your Rashee?’
We wonder what the talented director has to say about the unanimous reaction of cinegoers that the length of the film and numerous songs are the main culprit for the film, What’s Your Rashee?, to appear unimpressive.
