BMW and Google have come together, offering a new service known as MyInfo. This system will see the integration of the popular Google Maps software in all but the BMW X3 for the 2009 fleet. Google Maps is essential as it will be the backbone of the BMW Search system (which is available only in vehicles that come with the BMW Assist and Navigation system). BMW can only choose between AT&T and T-Mobile as the mobile provider in order to use the same mobile technology as the European models. It will rely on the much slower GPRS network since 3G networks are still relatively underdeveloped compared to our friends across the Atlantic. BMW Searcg will come with a $199 annual subscription fee and is part of the concierge plan available in the BMW Assist.
