Om Puri will next be seen in Babbarr so he gave his interview to reporters about this film, where he is playing a role of police officer, and lot more with his carrier.
What made you sign this film?
Firstly, I had already worked with Ashu Trikha before and I like working with him. The script and role were good and so was the money. The script of the film was the main reason to do it.
What role are you playing this time around?
I am playing a police officer in the film. He is a very experienced, cunning, clever, sharp and corrupt. He pretty well knows how to manipulate the underworld and make them fight amongst themselves.
How do you keep yourself going? What inspires you?
I do my work seriously. If you are doing a good job, you will be repeated. I take my inspiration from nature and people. I see God in people. I have met many people who are God’s avatar.
Why are you doing very few films now?
I am old now. I will turn 60 next year. So I have become a little slow now.
Amitabh Bachchan is also above 60. But he is doing a lot of work.
Amitabh Bachchan must have eaten a lot of almonds when he was young. I admire his spirit and energy. He has faced a lot of problems including health issues. He is much disciplined. He does yoga in the morning and goes to the gym as well. He has kept himself very well. I am a bit lazy.
Do you feel that you have been underutilised as an actor?
Yes. I have been underutilized as an actor. There are a very few films that are character actor based. Most films are hero-heroine oriented. There are a very few films like Dhoop and A Wednesday in which the character actors are the heroes.
